Tuwkeys!

I think the Wisconsin wild turkey population is on the increase. We are seeing them everywhere and our back yard is no exception. A family of twelve wild turkeys made their way into our back woods one morning this week. At first spotting, Teresa, Aidan and Molly Grace were very excited. They walked through the woods in the back, counting the turkeys in the trees and inching as close as they could get to the younger turkeys on the ground. Can you spot the turkey in this photo?

The following day I looked out our back window to see these two shenanigans...

I asked them what they were doing. The conversation went something like this:

Mom: What are you doing?

Molly Grace: Catching tuwkeys (she has not yet mastered the "r" sound)!

Mom: With a jump rope?

Molly Grace: Well, we made it into ah, ah, ya know, one of those necklace things. It goes awound the tuwkey's neck.

Mom: Do you mean a lasso?

Molly Grace: Ya, a lasso! We ah gonna put it awound the tuwkeys's neck and catch it and put it in the fweezah for thanksgiving.

Mom: Ohhhh, but Grandpa D. always gets our turkeys from his work, remember?

Molly Grace: Well, tell Gwampa that WE ah gonna get the tuwkey this year, lots of tuwkeys, and have a feast!

Mom: Well, good luck.

After several minutes of trying to find turkeys, they came up with Plan B. They disappeared downstairs for a long while. When they came back up, they proudly presented their new turkey decoys. They had plans to strategically plant them around the back yard in the hopes of attracting all the neighborhood turkeys.

Molly Grace explained: Well, we changed ah minds, WE ah not gonna go catch the tuwkeys, THEY ah gonna come to US!

(That last one is rather scary looking, in my opinion)

For the record, no turkeys have come gobbling into our yard. Hmmmmm, I wonder what Plan C will be tomorrow??

Seamus at Six Weeks

What's new with Seamus?? Well, he is filling out (check out his belly) and he is giving us great smiles (we'll post those soon!)

What's not new with Seamus?? As you can see, he still gets dozens of kisses a day from Erin.

Father-Son Camping Trip

What does a seven year old boy look like when he returns from a weekend camping trip with his dad? Well, you can see for yourself that he looks like boy who had a great time in the sand, water and grass, a great time roasting sticky marshmallows, a great time sword fighting, and last but not least, a great time trying to pick out his only clean shirt left in his bag to wear with his least-dirty pair of pants to mass on Sunday. If the amount of sand on the bottom of the tub was any indication of how much fun he had, than I can tell you he had the time of his life!!!

For the full effect of this plaid on plaid outfit that Aidan was wearing upon his return, click on the photo

This scrap under Aidan's eye was an accidental stick swinging injury, bound to happen with several boys in the same campsite...thankfully, his eye is fine.

Guess Who Had an Excellent Heart Check-Up??

Yes, our Erin did! We went for a visit to see Dr. S, her cardiologist. While we didn't expect anything to be different, it always does our hearts good to hear that her heart is good! The medical staff tend to remember their heart babies and they all loved seeing Erin. Dr. S even cancelled her echocardiogram this visit because her heart sounded so good and her EKG was perfect. We do not go back for one full year.....yippee!

Moira was there to snap some photos...
She was a bit leary about some of the procedures....
The pulse-oxygen monitor tickled her toes.
This is the EKG procedure which had a funny ending. When we put the EKG monitors on, we called them "stickers". I was trying to make it positive, saying, "Oh, Erin, look, you're getting lots of stickers today!". After we were all done the nurse brought the box of real stickers over to her, offering her one as a reward. Erin signed "No". I think she thought she was going to have to have another EKG! I have not seen her turn down stickers before.
Afterwards we met up with some friends at a park...

Seamus' Baptism

Seamus had a beautiful baptism on Sunday! We felt so honored that our friend, Father Eric, a wonderful priest who has blessed so many lives, including our own, was Seamus' Godfather. Moira was thrilled to be Seamus' Godmother and was just glowing. We had the baptism at our parish, Sts. Peter and Paul, with our Pastor Monsignor Klister officiating.
