Robin Hood and Stevenson

Seamus, a young kindergartener, has been introduced to poetry this year.  Like all his older siblings, we begin our poetry lessons with simple selections by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Seamus has his own version, however.  As he begins I hear, "Rain, by Robin Hood and Stevenson".

I'm SO Annoying!

Seamus has been flinging around more adjectives and adverbs lately.  In his case, the word usage comes a little before the actual comprehension.

Yesterday, as he was trying to put his shoes on, he became frustrated because the tongue was stuck down in his shoe.  Finally, he stomped his foot on the ground and said, "AAAAHHHHH, I am SO annoying!!!"

Catching up!

You know it's been a very long time since you've updated the blog when you cannot remember your login name and password!  It's true!

It has been almost 11 months since my last blog post!

Here is my motivation for adding oodles of pictures (coming soon) and updating the blog...these little cheesehead hooligans.....

They fill our days with countless entertainment and laughs.  I want to remember the memories and I want them to be able to look back and see pictures of  themselves, and their antics, as they grow up.

Hopefully Bridget and Teresa will help me keep up with some blogging!  (Hint hint hint... )

Picking our Christmas Tree - 2012

It was Seamus's turn to pick out an ornament.  He quickly picked a winner - the cement mixer.

It's funny we have no pictures of the tree we picked out.  I must have been too cold to hold the camera by that point.  We always go to the same place, Aissen Tree Farm, each year.

At Least He's Creative

A question I hear a lot regarding homeschooling:  Sooooo, just what do your little kids do all day?

Well, this will give you an idea....  Hahahaha

Seamus discovered some left over supplies from our Stations of the Cross kit.  Although he wasn't inspired to make a beautiful grotto, he thought the Popsicle sticks and stickers would make a great tiger.

Not very scary, in my opinion.  And I'm not completely sure what the stickers represent?

At least he realized he would need some big sharp fangs if he was going to be a tiger!

Smiiiiillllleee!

This is the typical response I get when I take a picture of Erin and Seamus.  Erin grins and says cheeeeeese (this is new for her) and Seamus turns his back.

Ha!  Caught ya!

When you suddenly realize the house is just too quiet....

......you know you're in trouble.

And so were these naughty little ones! All that was in the carton (maybe 12?) were cracked and slathered all over the floor...And just in case you thought they were all sweet and innocent, I have proof to the contrary!

A First for Potty Training

I have potty trained 6 (and a half) children.  Erin is the half, because she does beautifully under certain circumstances, but has accidents at other times.  We are working on that.  But this post is about our 8th child, dear Seamus.  He is a unique lad.  Yesterday he came running into the room sporting a freshly changed diaper which he changed HIMSELF.  Yep, you heard that right.  He changed the diaper all by himself!  The sticky taps were a little crooked, but otherwise, he was good to go.  (I will note....the "old" diaper was just wet.  Had that not been the case, we would have had a minor disaster on our hands).  Of course I praised him.  Then, I thought, out loud,  " You know your kid is ready for potty training when he changes his own diaper!"  This was followed by Eileen's quick, witty reply, "If he changes his own diaper, who cares if he's potty trained!"   Ha ha.  She cracks me up.  He cracks me up.  Oh, life is funny.

Happy 3rd Birthday Seamus!

Our little guy turned 3 on June 8th. My camera battery charger is still missing (somewhere in t his house) which means I didn't get pictures. We did get one cute video of Seamus singing along with us the Happy Birthday song...

Always a Great Time With Father Eric!

We always appreciate our time with Father Eric. Whenever he can squeeze in a little time in his busy schedule for a visit, we drop what we are doing and enjoy time with this amazing priest and friend. Father is pastor at St. Paul's at UW Madison.
